I Got Me My Very Own Revolution

I’m always proud to be British, but I felt especially proud when I heard about this. Sir Tim Berners-Lee, the inventor of the web, has been nominated Greatest Briton 2004. The inventor of the web. Now that really is something to put on your resume.

And his response to his achievement is so typically British: he said he was just “in the right place at the right time.” Self-deprecation at its finest.

I, for one, couldn’t imagine life now without the web. It provides me with entertainment, information, education and an on-line social life. Oh, and shopping. SHOPPING. How could I forget that? For someone like me stuck at home with small children, it has been little short of revolutionary. And I’m sure there is more I could be using the internet for that I don’t know about.

What? There’s porn, you say? Really? I don’t believe you. I’m sure Sir Tim had nothing to do with it. Oh wait, that’s right: we’re British, we don’t do porn here. And now I must go and make a nice, and very British, cup of tea.
