Fame and fortune are not enough

in In the Past

At the terrible school where I was bullied, there were various offspring of famous people and some pupils who have subsequently become famous. It was that kind of school. One girl went on to be a successful Hollywood actress. She had an older sister whom I barely even noticed. But the younger sister was an actress even then; loud, raucous and playing to the crowd.

On my birthday I had a cake. It was a special cake firstly because it had been sent by my parents who I didn’t see much, secondly because we didn’t get much good food at boarding school and thirdly because as anyone who knows me knows, I LOVE CHOCOLATE CAKE. I LOVE CHOCOLATE CAKE SO MUCH THAT SOMETIMES I CAN’T BREATHE JUST THINKING ABOUT IT. My friends and dorm-mates (roomies) shared it (and some illicit Cinzano as I recall) and played 45s on our record player over and over.

When it was all over, the two sisters, who I had barely ever spoken to, came to my dormitory and asked me for some cake. They knew that it was worth trying to scrounge a piece of cake off someone who they probably saw as an easy touch. I should have lied and said that the cake was finished but instead I gave them each a slice then they ran off, laughing at me. Nevermind the laughing at me, all I can think now is WHAT A BLOODY WASTE OF CHOCOLATE CAKE.

As I said, the younger sister has gone on to become a famous Hollywood actress. But I can see in her performances, interviews and general deameanour that she is still the loud, selfish, grabby person she was back then. I would envy her her success except that she seems to be missing the very thing that really makes a person successful in life. Fame and fortune are not it. She simply lacks any grace and nothing is going to give her that.

Not that I’m jealous or anything.

Yeah, who is she? I don’t know many film stares but would I know her? Please tell.

I understand why you wouldn’t want to name her on the web.

Besides, it’s fun for us to guess. (Has she had several high profile engagements that haven’t panned out?)

Not sure if she has had several engagements that haven’t panned out – I hope so! (ooh, mean). I try not to follow her career too closely because she honestly riles me that much.

I really can’t name her, not because I am bothered about naming her – the story is true and I haven’t said anything libellous, merely given my opinion of her – but because a quick google would reveal the school I went to and I have plenty bad to say about that…

Having said that, I really can’t imagine that there are too many successful Hollywood Brit actresses (although feel free to correct me).

I can totally understand that – There have been times when I have had plenty of money and they have been the unhappiest of my life. The things that make me truely happy….My family and beautiful children.

You know, I’ve been commenting around this afternoon, and I see you’ve been to some places I visit, and you seem to have this boarding school on the brain.

Mmmmmmm, interesting. I think a purge is needed, eh? You could always reference a link to a clue, so you don’t incriminate yourself. ;)

Or, just spill the beans!!

A little celebrity gossip, and look what we’ve become. Shameful.

Oh I am dying to know also! But I see my hubby thinks it’s better not to tell, and he’s a smart guy. :) But if you got an iching to tell SOMEONE you could always email me, and I promise to keep your secret! ;)
