Last night I went to see one of my favourite composer/performers, Mike Lindup

play at Larry’s Jazz Club in London

I stayed in the most beautiful hotel, The Lanesborough

although I didn’t sleep very well, despite my best intentions, because I had had such a good evening and also because I had had just a teeny bit too much to drink.
This morning, I did a spot of shopping at Harrods

and on the way back to the hotel I was nearly mown down by the Household Cavalry

going for a little walk in Hyde Park

Yup, last night, for the first time ever, I was not at home to put my babies to bed.
Instead I left them in the care of my wonderful mother (thank you Mum!) and went to London without the children. Let me say that again, because it sounds so good. WITHOUT THE CHILDREN.
The music was amazing, I stayed out late partying, I drank cocktails, I stayed in a great hotel, I shopped and then I came home to a clean and tidy house and two well-behaved boys. It. was. wonderful.
Now I’ve done it once, I can’t wait to do it again. Mike is playing in Rome next and we all know that Rome is definitely not a place to take children is it? I mean it would just be asking for trouble, really. Now, where’s that number for Alitalia airline reservations….
