Because the summer was a write-off for me, our plan was to go away once I was feeling better but not leaving it too late for me to fly. October and November looked good. But then because Harry returned rather unexpectedly to school, we had to shelve our plans.
However all is not lost. This weekend we are off en masse for a short break to a country retreat, a coastal cottage for twelve. The children will want to play on the beach. It will rain. However in true British tradition, we will have a good time.
