‘Flu season

by

in Daily Life

We’re waiting in the day unit of the hospital, sent up by our doctor, where we have to see the paediatrician about William’s urine and blood results. In the chair opposite sits a little boy who barely stirs in the six hours we are there, so poorly is he with ‘flu.

So it shouldn’t come as any surprise that a few days later, when we are having to deal with everything else, when I am having to spend all day at the hospital coping as best I can with the baby as well as look after William, that the baby comes down with ‘flu.

Ella – I stumbled upon your blog a couple of days ago and since then in every spare moment I have been drawn back again and again to read your past posts. Thank you so much for sharing so deeply of yourself and your experiences as a mother. My daughter is 19 months old and I was shocked at my not-so-wonderful reaction to becoming a mother. When I tried to speak of it with others, I met only with laughter or blank stares as if I was exaggerating the boredom and endless round of chores! For the first time I have seen in your writing a reflection of my feelings and experience, and it brings relief! Thank you
