My kids aren't school age yet, eldest will be 3 in November and youngest just 10 weeks. We too have just started being able to 'lie in' 'til 8am after weeks of night feeds. I'm not the best sleeper, but man, just lying in bed awake but in blissful uninterrupted silence is rest for me.

Great post. I was dreading the 8 week break. But... not so much. LOVING the slow stars, loving the lack of schedule, loving the play they are getting into without the interruption of nursery runs and toddler groups. My son starts school in Sept (he turns 4 tomorrow), and it is far too soon.

I thought I would hate the holidays (my kids are 3 & 2, only the 3yr old was in nursery). Silly, really, because it's only a few minutes in the morning....</p>

I work at home too so I have the same childcare issues but I just hate the school run more than the childcare issues! I find it interesting to find out who loves and who hates the school holidays. I know quite a few mums who love them, almost entirely because they can forget about the school run. I don't mind Easter, Christmas and half terms, but the summer drags a lot and I'll be happier when Rosemary's old enough to go to some organised holiday clubs of some kind to get her socialisation in there. She's getting very bored with her Granny, Mummy and Daddy.I did suggest to her, this morning, that she'll enjoy the summer holidays a lot more when she's a bit older, because she'll be able to go and stay with her grandparents and go to museums and holiday clubs (the latter got a squeal of excitement out of her). But, working from home means we have to arrange different childcare and our routines go out the window. If I was a full-time SAHM, I might well enjoy the holidays, too. Think I would probably do lots of fun day trips and projects and things like that.Glad you're having a nice time, anyway!

How lovely.
