Birthday, birthday

The children have nine party invitations between them this weekend.

It would be sooo much cheaper if they were social misfits. If I added up how many parties they went to over the year I think I would call a moratorium on them and, oh I don’t know, feed the entire population of Gambia instead or something.

So there will be much buying of presents that look like they are full of thought instead of just what was on special offer at the toy store, that didn’t involve a tantrum from the child selecting the present and that doesn’t break the bank. There will be a full-time taxi service operating from our house. There will be many children hyped-up on E numbers and excitement. There will be many tiredness-related tears. There will be many broken and discarded party bag contents found in the baby’s mouth, despite my best efforts. There will be cake crumbs found under certain boys’ beds despite my rule of no food upstairs. EVER.

Also, one of my OWN children said he wouldn’t come to my birthday party this weekend, saying it would be boring as I wouldn’t have any food that would ‘make him feel a bit sick’.

I don’t envy you in the slightest. Except for the fact that it’s your birthday. Happy Birthday!

If if weren’t for the birthday parties my daughter gets invited to, my life would be party-less!

My eldest seems to be invited to a plethora of birthday parties too, and I’ve found an excellent way to save costs on presents!

I made a playlist on the laptop of kid friendly funny songs (alot of Monty Python feature on it!) and I use this playlist for each kids birthday, with my eldest recording an individual version of happy birthday dear ‘X’ to go at the start :)
