The Friday Club: Friday carnivals

The thing that got me hooked on blogging was the shared experience of motherhood, real motherhood, written by ordinary mothers. This version of motherhood was the one I was experiencing, one I could relate to, not some sanitised media version. Nowadays I am just as likely to turn to blogs that provide that sense of community but at the same time teach me something, either about parenting, about geek-stuff, even something about myself. Most of my first-stop reads are blogs where I learn something, blogs that have some aspect of utility. After almost six years of blogging I want to get back to those shared experiences and so I invite you to join The Friday Club, a series of carnivals that will take place here once a month on a Friday.

For those of you unfamiliar with carnivals, a carnival is a collection of posts written by different bloggers, each post covering a similar subject. Each month there will be a topic, all you need to do is write your post, email me the link and I will post the carnival on the Friday of the carnival. It’s easy!

Here’s how to submit your post:

  • Please write a new post for the carnival using the call for submissions which is published monthly as your prompt.
  • Publish your carnival entry for the Friday Club Carnival the week before the Friday noon (GMT) deadline.
  • When it is published, email me* the link to your post url (permalink) at: fridayclub (at) notesfromhome (dot) com before the carnival deadline.
  • What is not allowed: anything off-topic, sponsored posts/product reviews/competitions, posts not written by personal bloggers or anything libellous or hurtful.  (It’s fine to submit your carnival post to other carnivals or Linkies by the way).
  •  You will, of course, get a link back from me when the carnival goes live. I would really appreciate it if you would link here in your post so that others can take part if they want to.

You can take your post in any direction: submissions can be serious, humorous, helpful, sad, witty or anything in between! Be creative and enjoy writing something that fits on your own blog.

The Friday Club will be covering lots of topics: parenting, life, home, cooking, technology/blogging, education, topical/seasonal subjects, books and green issues so I hope there will be something for everyone. Check back regularly to see which carnivals appeal to you and jump in! Everyone is welcome!

You can keep up to date with The Friday Club announcements by  subscribing via email or subscribing to the NotesFromHome RSS feed. If you have questions about how it works just give me a shout.
