Cathedral christmas carol service

cathedral christmas decorations

cathedral decorated for christmas

This week was the boys’ school Christmas Carol Service. It was a very moving service held in the Cathedral and a fitting end to several busy days of Christmas activity at school.

I am looking forward to the holidays. It has been a long and busy term and I think we all need a few weeks of rest and family time. And I am particularly looking forward to not having to do the gruelling daily school run!

As I stood in our beautiful Cathedral, Matthew was many miles away in a cold parish church at the funeral of one of his best friends, our son’s Godfather.

This holiday period, if there is someone you know who is on their own or if you know someone who is struggling with something – anything – please reach out to them and let them know that they are not alone.

What a beautiful Cathedral. I love Cathedrals, they make me feel all spiritual. Sorry to hear about Matthew’s friend, he must have been very young. So sad.

I wish you and your lovely family a restful as well as wonderful Christmas and New Year. xxx

It is so hard. My best friend’s sister died at New Year 3 years ago, leaving a 12 year old son. She was a single parent. I am terrified of such things happening, and yet I seem hear of it all the time. And today I have been tweeting with the friend of a family whose 2.5 yr old has just been diagnosed with cancer. I am in awe of what people mean to each other, and you are right to bring it up at this time of year when we all get so carried away with selfishness…

You’re right. It’s the season of giving and the best thing that we can give other people is our love and care. We should give it to people who need, so they won’t feed abandoned. A little kindness goes a long way to people who are in need of them.

A bit more effort from everyone can make this world we live in a better place.

Holiday season is a time of loving and sharing and it wouldn’t hurt on your part to reach those people who are alone. Who did you reach this holiday?

I like your last line advice! I will do it too!
