Return

July 8, 2009

A holiday in Devon last week was like holidaying in the tropics. And no awful plane journey. We managed to fit in beaches, swimming, soft play, sightseeing, good food, way too many ice-creams (can’t fit in my pre-pregnancy jeans I had just got back into before we went away) and adventure parks. We were busy! [...]

When the going gets tough, the tough get going

June 28, 2009

Although I am a very sad person generally at the moment, on the surface I am, of course, functioning pretty well. But every morning I wake up and for that fraction of a second everything is fine, until I remember that we have a new normal in our family life these days. So yes, I [...]

The baby, his skin enraged by eczema, sleeps his exhausted sleep so I sneak out, the golden fields beckoning me. The dogs race ahead of me, behind me, startling birds and rabbits. The cool [...]

God and the little devils

July 10, 2006

Yesterday we ventured to church for a family baptism. The church was full of children, pretty much all of whom were well behaved throughout the thirty minute service. Except the row in front of me where Trouble lurked behind every word the vicar said. And yes, my eldest two might have been involved.
